Ups & Downs, Happiness Triumphs!

I haven't written in a while, primarily because I have other outlets for self-expression. But, because I've kept this blog for so long, I figured I owe it another (long over-due) update. Omar and I went through a bit of grief last year. We were brought up emotionally with the joy and excitement of finding out I was pregnant, only to be torn down with the realization it was trophoblastic disease aka a molar pregnancy. Thankfully, my life has gone on as normal after several months of blood draws. I graduated with an A.A. in Early Childhood Education December 2010, and am now going back to school to pursue a degree in Business Administration and possibly Accounting. We haven't bought a home yet, but we are getting closer and closer to meeting that goal. I just can't wait! Even through everything we went through last year, I am truly the happiest I have ever been in my life. We are truly blessed. xo, Kaleigh

Quick Update

Omar and I are in the process of saving to buy a house. I'm so excited! We have been dreaming of that day for 3 years, ever since we lived with his family. We would stay up all night watching HGTV. It is almost here! Married life is wonderful! We've both been pretty busy. Omar decided to change his major from Business Administration to Computer Science, while I continue on with Early Childhood. This is my "in between" semester, where I'm taking only Spanish. That ONE class is enough for me, let me tell ya! It is intense and I don't think I would be able to focus on any other class. Glad I took it when I did - everything happens for a reason! Better finish getting ready for work. I'm loving the one year olds, even though they wear me out beyond any other age! <3, Kaleigh

Our Honeymoon!

We had the most AMAZING time on our honeymoon! We stopped in Las Vegas first, which was pretty fun. We didn't have time to do much because we were worn out by the time we got there. We stayed at the Treasure Island. We LOVED our room - it was gorgeous! Very modern and clean. The next day we began our journey to California. What a blast. While we were there we ate at a few really yummy restaurants, went to Disneyland, Newport Beach, and enjoyed the pools at our hotel.

This photo is the view from our hotel - Hotel Menage. We LOVED the hotel! The only problem I had with it was the bedframe... I banged my dang shin on it two times in the middle of the night! Ouch! But other than that, we LOVED the hotel. The staff was amazingly helpful and very kind. The room was beautiful. We just loved it.

The next morning we toured the pool area before breakfast. It was beautiful!!

After breakfast at Ihop, we returned to the hotel for some pool time! It was wonderfully relaxing to swim, read by the pool, and just spend time with my new husband!

Omar lounging by the pool - ahhh, this is the life!

Just finished up our favorite ride - the Grizzly River Run! Omar is a daredevil, using the camera on water rides.

I will add more photos later! But we had the most amazing time. We are so blessed to have spent so much wonderful time together. Maybe we will make this vacation thing an annual (or quarterly) thing! I think our brains needed a rest from all the wedding planning!!

With love,

June 4th, 2011

Our wedding day is drawing near so quickly! We started full-swing planning a few days after Christmas. During that time we have booked our cake, photographer, florist, officiant and church. We already had our rings, my dress and headpiece, shoes, etc., and reception site. I'm a little nervous about how much room is going to be available in our reception site, but I'm sure it will all work out!

We have started the Dave Ramsey plan to get out of debt. So far it is working great, but I made my first budget since I was 18, and nearly had a panic attack when I realized how much unnecessary money we spend. I really need to downgrade the satellite package, but I feel like I won't even watch the TV if I don't have these channels.

I had such a wonderful Christmas in Colorado. It was so nice to spend it with my family. Yvette even came with, which made it even more fun!

I'll write more later. I just wanted to write a quick update. I want to get back into blogging, but I also want to erase a bunch of the old ones I have online. Not quite sure what I'm going to do yet, but this one will definitely stay online. Whether I write in it will be an entirely different story.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes!

I can't believe it has been nearly a year since I last posted to my blog! Things have just been so crazy, it is hard to keep up with it all!

My semester is coming to an end. I finished my Historical Geology class today, and let me tell you one thing about that class… don't take it! Just kidding. I honestly enjoyed the class and the professor. I even enjoyed the hundreds of review questions we had to answer before every exam. However, taking Astronomy with the same pile of homework plus twice weekly labs… well, lets just say it was an exhausting semester!

Since I last posted, I have begun working as a substitute teacher assistant at an Early Childhood Center. I absolutely love it, although I come home wiped almost every night. I wouldn't change it for the world though.

Monday is my final exam for Astronomy. If I pass… I will have my Associates of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education!!! Never thought I would make it this far!

I'm still incredibly in love with my fiancĂ©, and we are getting married in SIX MONTHS! Yup, six months from today I will be Mrs. Serrano… Or whatever I decide to do about my name… which I haven't quite decided yet!

My little sister is pregnant! She is due in less than a month!

So that is my life in a nutshell…

Grateful

I'm sitting here at my future in-laws house, and I am feeling so grateful. They are out of town, so Omar and I are taking care of the dogs while they are away. It has got me thinking about just how lucky we are to have them in our lives. I never thought I would have in-laws I loved so much. I always wanted sisters-in-law, who would be my friends. I didn't think it would happen. But it has - and I'm so happy! They are the greatest friends ever.

I wasn't exactly in the best mood this morning, but when I read a status update Omar made on his myspace, it made me so happy and I just couldn't help but be happy. How on Earth did I get so lucky? Even his friends are great. I haven't had much of an opportunity to hang out with them, and however brief this evening was, it was great to see them kind of relaxed for a couple minutes before practicing. I want to support them more in their music career. They are so talented.

I am having a lot of trouble getting in shape, because tempations are all around me. Tonight I ate pizza (but it was so yummy I can't even regret it, thanks to Quanah!) and drank beer, but I'm young and know I should have fun. I will get in shape, yup yup I will.

Anyway, I should go listen to some more songs I love so dearly and feed the doggies.

Much love,
Kaleigh

Oh my!

I've been doing the practicum portion of my curriculum development class in a pre-k room, and I can't believe the amazing things kids say! Sweet things - like, "I love you Kaleigh! I miss you Kaleigh!" to "I'm ugly." Seriously... a five-year-old girl told me she was ugly the other day, and it nearly broke my heart. I didn't even know what to say - I was totally caught off guard. She is by no means ugly, in fact she is absolutely gorgeous! And she is such a sweetie. It just broke my heart.

I hope this was a one time occurrence and that she doesn't really belive she is ugly...

Much love,
Kaleigh
